I find that the hardest part of therapy is understanding that it isn’t always about rehashing every part of your past to make progress toward a healthier, brighter future. Sometimes it’s about having the tools to be resilient enough to get through the pain, the stress and the trauma to persevere in life and make it better. Developing an understanding of anxiety, depression, inattention, anger and other mental health issues can be the start of developing effective strategies to move forward in healing and progressing beyond the roadblocks. My approach to treatment tends to be eclectic and begins right where you are in the present. If you wish to talk about how your history impacts the present issues it’s fine, but our focus will be on how to move forward. I have spent over 35 years in the field treating adults, children, teens and couples working toward empowerment and self-determination. If you’ve never been in treatment before, the toughest part is setting up the appointment and meeting the therapist for the first time. My goal is make this experience as comfortable for you as possible and help you achieve your goals with confidence.
