Therapist Overview

I have been blessed to enjoy a wonderful family, with four boys and their spouses, and soon to be 8 grandchildren. I have worked almost 30 years at Brigham Young University’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). My work has been mainly with young adults, adults, and couples. I have specialized in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. I have also worked with many undergoing faith crises and exploring their sexual identity. I have an orientation that is strength-based, helping clients discover and create meaning, enhance relationships, and foster adaptive ways of viewing the world. My work is informed by positive psychology, cognitive-behavioral, constructivist, and interpersonal approaches. I am evidence-based in my approach using procedures that are considered best practice I recognize there are many stresses in life and there are things we can and cannot control. I believe we can all find ways to make our lives better no matter the circumstances. I have treated and taught literally thousands of students at BYU and find great satisfaction in helping people live lives that are meaningful and rewarding.
