Therapist Overview
I strive to create an environment which fully supports my clients in making meaningful and lasting changes within their lives. My areas of specialty include depression and anxiety, substance use and misuse, LGBTQ+ populations, men and masculinity, college-aged students and those navigating life, family and career-related transitions. I completed my undergraduate, graduate and now doctoral work at Indiana University in education, counseling and human development, respectively. I have also worked at IU for many years in counseling, teaching and administrative roles, so I am well versed in campus and community culture. Clinically, my work has varied greatly, with time spent counseling in schools, shelters and non-profit entities. My style is direct, warm, collaborative and, most importantly, impactful. Ultimately, I believe we all have the capacity to change and become the best version of ourselves, sometimes we just need a little help navigating things along the way. My work is theoretically grounded in cognitive and dialectical behavioral principles. My orientation also draws upon existential, narrative and humanistic elements. Simply put, how we make sense and meaning of the world and multiple systems in which we live. Which helps more broadly pose the question: What do we need to make our lives better?
