Therapist Overview

I have worked with a wide range of clients over the years, and enjoy working with both men and women, adolescents, youth, and adults, and people from various cultural backgrounds. I have helped individuals, couples, and families struggling with abuse, trauma, depression, anxiety, shame, and relationship problems. I am a relational therapist and believe that the client/therapist relationship is central to your ability to change and grow. My approach is engaged, empathic, and respectful. I am also a GLBT affirmative therapist. I am an integrative therapist. My work as a therapist is grounded in psychodynamic and attachment perspectives. I also weave cognitive interventions, and cognitive behavioral skills into my work with clients so that you experience more immediate improvements in mood and functioning. I have been a licensed clinical social worker for 20 years. I am also a faculty member at Wayne State University’s School of Social Work where I teach family therapy and clinical theory
