Therapist Overview
I see psychotherapy as helping individuals reach beyond problem solving to a deeper contact with their embodied self and imagination. My psychoanalytic training informs my knowledge of the effects of the past on present living. I believe that intellectual insight must include embodied experience to generate change. My training in Somatic Experiencing and Embodied Imagination (a form of dreamwork) augment my psychoanalytic understanding while opening up access to unknown aspects of self. My years of working as a therapist however, have confirmed my belief that any psychic change occurs within a therapeutic relationship of trust, respect, safety and compassion. I work with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, those struggling with anxiety, depression, those feeling “stuck”, creative blocks , work-related problems, relationship conflicts, grief, and aging issues. By focusing on dreams and bodily experience a person can develop greater aliveness and a capacity for living creatively
