Therapist Overview
PREGNANCY, POSTPARTUM, MATERNAL MENTAL HEALTH. Not feeling like you “should” after a new baby? Experiencing scary or intrusive thoughts? Struggling with stress or mixed emotions during pregnancy? Difficulty adjusting to motherhood? Even though it can feel very isolating, you are not alone. Counseling from an experienced provider can help. I’m one of just a small handful of providers with a certification in Perinatal Mental Health in our area. Specializations include: anxiety and depression during pregnancy, postpartum depression, anxiety, panic disorder and OCD. Research suggests that using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Theory are the best avenues to successfully address times of transition during the perinatal period. Exposure and Response Prevention Techniques may be used if you are experiencing repetitive intrusive thoughts/images that may cause you to avoid certain situations In addition to OFFICE BASED services, I provide ONLINE COUNSELING as well as IN HOME COUNSELING. Physical challenges after childbirth coupled with arranging childcare may make it more difficult to attend sessions in the office. As a therapist and mother myself, I encourage you to reach out and get the support you deserve.
