Therapist Overview
I believe psychotherapy is the art of helping others to find peace and reach goals. Sadness, confusion, anxiety, anger, addiction and other non-peaceful feelings often result from trauma or difficult life situations. Such feelings lead us to seek guidance, and we hope for guidance from someone with insight, understanding and therapeutic skills โ which is exactly what I consider to be my mission: to help resolve difficult situations and to improve personal and relationship satisfaction (that is, to increase self-esteem, inner peace, confidence, and peace). I also utilize therapeutic hypnosis to facilitate relaxation, insight, self-improvement โ and to overcome unconscious frustrations and feelings that can create emotional pain or obstruct efforts to achieve life goals. I have extensive counseling experience regarding: spiritual/faith crises, school pressures, anxiety, depression, guilt, suicide, sexual assault, sex therapy, LGBTQ concerns, parenting, rape, PTSD, military. I have been a professor at several universities โ and have published in the areas of the Real Self, hypnosis, sexuality, obesity, cancer, deaf education; I served several years as the editor of a journal. *I am a reader, a swimmer, a musician, and a devoted grandfather. People often comment how easily they are able to open up with me โ and to find peace.
