Therapist Overview
When children are wrestling with emotions and experiences that are too big to handle, play can communicate much more than words. Play therapy, art, movement, sand-tray therapy, and story are the tools I use to give children the safe place they need to grow and heal. Adolescents experience a great deal of anxiety and stress regarding social status, academic performance, and future planning during the Middle School and High School years. Their need for increased stress-management skills is great, as is the desire to process the many social/emotional demands placed on them in a safe environment. My experience with abuse/trauma, anxiety, and social/emotional development inform my practice. I have a deep commitment to supporting the caregiver/child relationship through attachment-based interventions. In addition, I have experience providing academic, behavioral, and emotional support to students in Denver Public Schools. I am available to work with children, adolescents, sibling groups, and parents/caregivers, and I am comfortable with a faith-based approach to counseling. I also provide EMDR treatment and stress-management tools to all ages.
