Therapist Overview
An effective therapist can help you overcome difficulties and enhance your life. My work as a therapist over many years has developed both my skills and my faith in the value of therapy. In my work, I am supportive, conscientious, honest, and knowledgeable. My focus is to helping my clients clarify and better understand their current challenges and find new ways to cope with them. Becoming a skilled psychotherapist takes many years. I completed my training in clinical psychology at Columbia University in 1990. For the first 28 years of my career, I worked in outpatient and inpatient therapy settings, with children, adolescents and adults. I have been in private practice with adults since 2008. I am devoted to helping my clients, and view being a therapist as a profound responsibility. I have found my caring and thoughtful perspective (drawn from both psychoanalytic and cognitive theory, and from many years of clinical and life experience) has been helpful to my clients in many ways.
