I believe psychotherapy is pursuing your inner truth. While most people seek counseling to ameliorate painful personal or interpersonal symptoms, the solution is not as simple as deciding to be different tomorrow. We need to understand when and why our self-destructive ways began. We need to see how we have created patterns and habits that maintain our personal suffering. Our mind is designed to keep those important, but uncomfortable, insights out of view. Once we can find the courage and strength to truly face our whole reality, we can begin the joyful process of designing an authentic lifestyle which brings true happiness.
