Therapist Overview
As a child therapist, supervisor, and professor at Pepperdine University, I work with parents and families on issues such as behavioral problems, sibling rivalry, divorce, tantrums, trauma, depression and anxiety for young children and teenagers. Play therapy is a way of being with the child that honors their unique developmental level and looks for ways of helping in the “language” of the child – play. Working with children and closely with parents, I strongly believe that play therapy can make difficult times feel less painful and more manageable. Play Therapy can give children the words for big feelings and create a better sense of autonomy and self-efficacy. It also provides insight into what a child is feeling and ways to express themselves in a positive and healthy way. I work closely with parents to help guide and education them to create a better parent-child connection. This connection is the strong foundation for a healthier life as the child get older.
