Therapist Overview
Every day since mid-March, I have been working with clients who are in crisis. Not like BIG EVENT crisis, but EVERY DAY FEELS LIKE AN ALTERNATE LIFE crisis. Crying and laughing. Loving and hating. Fearful and joyful. Practicing patience. Problem solving. Sorting through past traumas. Contemplating the loss of coping mechanisms and grieving the loss of social support. Old problems are still hanging around, trying to make sense of new obstacles. I am on the same journey, which at first felt like trying to help people with one hand tied behind my back. Now it feels more like a three-legged race, where we figure out the pace together Throughout my career, I have worked with a wide variety of clients: children and families, men and women in the military, refugees, older adults and people affected by dementia. I utilize Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Empowerment. I aim to demystify mental health counseling by making it less about a diagnosis and more about a therapeutic relationship. I am an empathetic, open-hearted and compassionate person who will respect your values and provide a non-judgmental space to sort through complex emotions.
