I believe therapy should provide an emotionally safe space, away from the day-to-day demands of life, where collaborative work can bring about a deepened sense of self-awareness. I provide specific strategies and techniques for working through emotional and relationship issues, limiting thought patterns, trauma and loss. The ultimate goal of therapy is to gain the ability to take what is learned there and to utilize that new understanding and newly developed coping skills independently. I work with adults and adolescents, most often individually but with spouses or other family members and significant others when it is deemed by us to be useful. My perspective incorporates cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based techniques that help relieve anxiety, depression, and the distress associated with family and work stressors, health and academic challenges.
