Therapist Overview
Most people solve most problems on their own or with help from friends, but that doesn’t always work. Troubles mount up. Upheavals catch you unawares. “Go to” solutions can leave you empty-handed. Even planned changes can be disorienting – job changes, retirement, new relationships, going off to school, children leaving home. Sometimes people just need help coping, changing bad habits, or thinking through options. Other times people feel hemmed in by circumstances, or find they don’t recognize themselves in the life they lead and want to deepen their sense that the life they are living reflects their own values and choices. For more than 25 years, I have worked as a psychotherapist for people with a broad range of psychological symptoms, psychiatric disorders, and life circumstances. I have taught in, and recently directed, a well-regarded doctoral training program in clinical psychology, and conducted research to improve quality of care for combined mental/physical disorders.
