Therapist Overview
Hello and welcome! I am so glad that you have decided to take this step to begin counseling. It can be challenging to ask for help at times but in the end, you are the one suffering if you don’t have any support. The counseling relationship can be that support you need. In our sessions, I try to create a safe and welcoming environment free from judgements. I will allow you the space to share where you have been and where you would like to go. Together we will determine the methods we use in counseling to help you get there depending on your needs and concerns.
In my past clinical experiences, I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings including outpatient community care, long-term residential, short-term residential for addiction, and with active duty on a military base. I am proud and grateful to have worked with so many different individuals ranging in ages, backgrounds, and presenting concerns. Each individual that I have worked with has helped to shape me as a provider.
In terms of counseling methods, I combine and pull from many different counseling approaches. I may utilize techniques from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety, someone presenting with mood changes may respond better to Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). In cases of trauma, I may utilize the Flash Technique, CBT, DBT, Relational, and Narrative. Often times Motivational-Interviewing skills and Harm Reduction may be needed with addiction. In the end, both of us will decide on the methods that we utilize to work toward the goals you have created.
