Therapist Overview
“NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS” Men healing men. Now more ever, men are struggling to cope with real threats to our physical, emotional and spiritual well being. Men, particularly men of color, are disproportionately impacted by the current health crisis that has ravaged minority communities. That stress is now compounded by the racial trauma involved in the reported cases of unarmed men of color being killed in recent months. And when a man cannot protect and provide for himself and his family, he loses his sense of worthiness. As an African American male, a retired law enforcement official and now as a licensed associate counselor, I possess a unique set of clinical and interpersonal skills designed to hold the room long enough for men to drop their shields of armor and speak their truths without fear of judgement or criticism. And together, in a safe place, we have the hard conversations necessary to begin to do the hard work of rebuilding broken men and learning how to maintain healthy relationships. The healing process for men begins in the therapeutic relationship through affirmation and empathy laced with some good ole fashioned real talk passed down to me by my grandfather.
