Therapist Overview
Many of our coping skills or “go-to” behaviors develop very early in life. Once we find a skill that works, we tend to use it again and again and end up applying the same coping mechanism to a myriad of different contexts. (When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.) And just like we use worn-out behaviors long after they stop being effective, so also do our thoughts march down well-worn neural pathways. Our capacity for openness and flexibility becomes increasingly limited. What we do matters. Our actions construct our lives and shape our brains. My training is in integrated behavioral health with an emphasis on changing repetitive behaviors, as well as in managing addiction.I will work with you to identify and find solutions to the mental and physical habits which may be harming your well-being or your relationships. I help you develop mindfulness, increase your ability to manage your emotions, find a way to place your attention on what you want it to focus on.
