ADOPTION/ADOPTEES Are you an adult adoptee looking to receive therapy from an adoption competent counselor? Are you looking for help with understanding how being adopted can impact a persons sense of self, attachment, issues of abandonment or difficulty with interpersonal relationships? The Adoption triad includes birth parents, child, and adoptive parents. DNA testing such as Ancestry.com, 23andMe has helped so many of us locate birth parents, full and half siblings and other relatives, however not without challenges. As a therapist and adult adoptee I provide a judgement-free space to process feelings of trauma, abandonment and loss associated with the adoption triad. These losses can include knowing our original identity, heritage, or feeling grounded. I partner with you to develop coping skills to handle discovery, search and reunion.
