Animal-assisted therapy of the mountain communities’ mission- to serve the community by providing healing from the past, comfort in the present and creating hope for a compelling future..all with the help of animals. Animal-assisted therapy is a therapeutic treatment that integrates animals with intention and purpose into psychotherapy, designed to benefit the client’s cognitive, social and emotional functioning. We have two therapists-Kim Grogan, LPC, CAAP, utilizes AAT and EMDR for trauma clients when working with children and teens- guinea pigs, bunnies, cats, dogs and horses provide safety and acceptance to help with healing, Megan Yarnall, MA LMFTC, LPCC ABA is our equine-assisted therapy specialist who works with teens and adults integrating the equine-assisted interventions to promote health, well being and healing for clients struggling with anxiety, depression.
