She/Her/Hers
My approach is individualized care. My goal is to support you in taking the time to understand yourself, your true strengths, and your challenges so that you can make informed decisions about the direction of your life. I’m not interested in throwing a bunch of pills at you and calling it a day, but I want to help you understand what’s going on with your body and mind so that we can come up with some strategies that work for you.
Therapist Overview
Hello and welcome! I’m Ethel B. Akongnui, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). I am passionate about providing quality, compassionate, and comprehensive mental health across the lifespan. I Possess strong clinical skills enhanced by a natural ability to build rapport with patients and their families. I follow evidence-based guidelines blended with clinical experience and personal observation. My role is multifaceted, including mental health advocate, educator, and therapist. Before becoming a PMHNP-BC, I had eight years of nursing experience, including pediatrics, Home Health, medical-surgical, Long-term care, and emergency department. I attended Walden University, obtaining a Master of Science in Nursing with a specialty in psychiatry.
While enrolled there, I obtained valuable clinical experience in seeing patients across their lifespans. I cared for patients from all works of life, veterans, and their families. I believe that our mental health is as vital as our overall health and should be prioritized. Everyone is unique and thus should receive treatment that is tailored to them.
I have a wealth of cumulative experience from providing compassionate care across the lifespan. I am licensed in Kansas.
I work with clients who are struggling with anxiety and depression issues and many psychiatric disorders. The first appointment is utilized as an in-depth evaluation of symptoms, and in the end, an individualized plan is initiated. Most clients start reporting results after they start taking their medication. I incorporate medication management with psychotherapy.
