Therapist Overview
It is a painful shock for most of us when, after finding a loving partner, we get stuck in hurt, distance, and disappointment. Long term relationships are difficult, and precious few of us were given the skills and knowledge we need to not just grit our teeth and stay together, but to actually tend the fire of love so it doesn’t go out. Despite our love for our partner we can get caught in cycles of disconnection and arguments that chip away at our closeness, and turn our partner into a source of stress rather than strength. I have extensive training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, the most well-researched and successful form of couple’s therapy in the world to date. I’ve gained a deep understanding of issues that plague couples, including: conflict, sexual desire differences, stage of life issues, affairs, pornography, trauma, and emotional issues like anxiety and depression. If your relationship just feels a bit shakey, or on the brink of collapse, give me a call. I promise in my office, you won’t be blamed for your struggles or given simplistic answers like rules for how to “fight fair.” The science of intimacy has come a long way, and I’ll use it to help you understand yourself, and build a bridge to your partner.
