Therapist Overview
Counseling should be a safe space and positive experience for clients. I believe counseling should be both a helping relationship and a process of change. My primary goal as a therapist is to help the client move in a constructive direction to both hurdle obstacles they face and reshape those obstacles into opportunities for personal growth. My background includes extensive work serving and advocating for families and children. I continue to work with children and adolescents within the counseling setting to work with the client in achieving their therapeutic goals. I work with a range of clients, primarily children and adolescents (age range 4-14) who are facing areas of concerns, including: trauma, ADHD, anxiety, anger, depression, family relationships, parenting, adoption, stress management, addiction, and self esteem. My approach to counseling is based in CBT therapy and draws from other modalities, including: direct and indirect play therapy, art therapy, client-centered approaches, & mindfulness. Working with children, it is essential to be in tune with the client cues and use approaches that match the client’s developmental level to engage in meaningful sessions.
