Therapist Overview
A lot of us feel overwhelmed or stuck sometimes. But when life feels like a constant rollercoaster ride — or just slogging through mud — therapy can help. Whether it is finding a different path, better understanding your life, building on your strengths or adding skills needed, I believe that therapy should help you experience more joy. My approach to therapy is evidence-based and direct (with an appropriate dose of humor) and always focused on your goals. The hows and whys of therapy shouldn’t be a mystery. I believe that clients and therapists should collaborate during all phases of the process. I have specialized training in treating mood disorders, psychosis, anxiety, and trauma including physical, mental, sexual and religious trauma. My clients are diverse, motivated, and change-focused. Because I am a former gender and family law professor, some are lawyers, students or faculty. Others are in the midst of identity or life transitions. Even looking for a therapist is a big step. Congratulations on taking it. Regardless of what brings you to therapy, I will welcome and support you. If you think my approach to counseling can help, please call or e-mail.
