Therapist Overview
Chronic anxiety and self-loathing are common outcomes of overwhelming experiences in childhood. I work with adults who, despite their outward success, struggle with anxiety, low self-esteem, guilt/shame, and unsatisfying relationships. Often times, there’s a disconnect between how others perceive you and the way you feel about yourself. Your struggles with loneliness, sadness, and insecurity are things you try to deal with privately so as not to burden anyone but this perpetuates your feelings of isolation. The current Covid situation is certainly not helping matters. I see you and I can help. Through trauma-informed relational psychotherapy, mindfulness, and body-based practices, we’ll work together to gain insight into recurring patterns, understand why your mind is constantly telling you “It’s not safe out there!” when rationally you know you’re OK, build greater capacity for safety and connection, and invite more joy into your life. My approach is one of curiosity, connection, and compassion. I am a collaborative therapist, fully engaged in the “virtual room” with you and passionate about your healing. My hope is to assist you to understand yourself more deeply, cultivate self-compassion, and create the life you want. Dually licensed in NC and NY, I work with residents of both states.
