Therapist Overview
Over the years I’ve enjoyed working with adolescents and young adults as a full-time social worker and soccer coach in the school setting (currently with Fairfax County Public Schools). Given the transient and dense population of the Northern Virginia community, our school aged population puts immense pressure on themselves to succeed socially, academically, and athletically. Many students that I’ve worked with in the school and private practice setting are dealing with depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship issues, or something else. While I typically incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Theory, Psychodynamic Theory, and mindfulness into my sessions, the most important part of counseling is the therapeutic relationship between a therapist and their client. Regardless of the modality I’m using, everything I do in the session involves the client and seeks to build on their innate strengths. “The ultimate goal of therapy… it’s too hard a question. The words come to me like tranquility, like fulfillment, like realizing your potential.” –Dr. Irvin D. Yalom
