I believe that the kind of relationship you have with yourself FIRST greatly impacts the kind of relationships you have with others around you. I work with minority women to tackle transitions in their lives such as with work, finances, school, and relationships that create stress and unhappiness in their lives. I focus on privileging your voice and the way you want to live your BEST life, even when it does not align with how the world wants you to live and be. Living authentically and vulnerably while setting and maintaining strong boundaries is the ONLY way we do not abandon ourselves for the sake of others. We will explore generational patterns in your family of origin and how those relationships have impacted what we are up against. I use videos, books, music, and other experiential items in session to challenge our thinking to be sure what we are saying, thinking, and doing is exactly what we want and not the “expectations” of others. Therapy, especially for minority populations, can be scary and uncertain, because you may not know what to expect.
