Therapist Overview
“When you change your mind, you change your life.” This is a beautiful quote that I heard many years ago, and it stuck with me. My name is Casey Ann Johnston, and I recently graduated from Mount Mercy University with a master’s degree in Marriage & Family Therapy. I look forward to working with all populations and cultures. My passion is helping others reach their goals by utilizing congruent communication, healing attachment wounds, understanding and using strengths, and recognizing the mind-body connection. My special interest includes childhood trauma, sexual and physical abuse, PTSD, family conflict, anxiety, and depression. As a therapist, I like to utilize Virginia Satir’s Experiential-Human Growth Model, Dr. Bessel Vander Kolk’s teachings on trauma, and Dr. Stephen Porges’ Polyvagal Theory. I assess the whole client, which includes health in the social, emotional, physical, spiritual, and recreational domains. My love for humanity, twenty-six years of marriage, three children, training in Marriage & Family Therapy, plus my enthusiasm to continue learning about the human brain, have all contributed in who I am as a therapist and how I conduct therapy. I look forward to working with you.
