Therapist Overview
Dr. Peter Schaub is a postdoctoral psychology fellow at The Recovery Clinic and Kodiak Recovery. Peter is passionate about working with individuals facing addictions and co-occurring disorders, and he has been in recovery since 2008. He earned his doctorate of clinical psychology (PsyD) at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and completed his pre-doctoral internship at Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. Peter conducted his doctoral dissertation on 12-step recovery trends among individuals with ADHD and co-occurring substance use disorders. In addition to his expertise in addiction recovery, Peter specializes in the assessment and treatment of ADHD, mood and anxiety disorders, and obsessive compulsive disorder. He also enjoys working with medical/mental health professionals, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and individuals facing relationship difficulties, life transitions, and grief/loss. Peter uses a collaborative, evidence-based therapeutic approach to help clients reduce their psychological suffering and cultivate a life that is more consistent with their values. He draws heavily from mindfulness based therapies (e.g., DBT, ACT), but tailors his style to each person’s unique needs. In his free time, Peter enjoys bouldering and meditating.
