Therapist Overview
It’s all supposed to be “natural” and happy…wanting to have a baby, trying to have a baby, actually having a baby. We aren’t “good parents” or we are “failures” if things don’t happen the way they did for our cousin, our neighbor, the person who shares your office at work. “I shouldn’t be feeling this way” and “nobody else feels like this” weigh heavily on your exhausted and hyperemotional brain, and you wonder if there is something terribly wrong with you. Guess what: there isn’t. And I am here to tell you that you can make it through this. Infertility and the emotions that accompany it are hidden away. Losses can be devastating. Adoption can be overwhelming. Everything from preconception through the first year of your baby’s life carries its own unique feelings, issues, and problems regardless of the sex and/or gender of the parent(s). Together we can navigate your specific birth journey: where you’ve been, where you are now, and where you are going. I’m here to tell you that you are not alone…that the feelings and thoughts you are having are not taboo. I will help you find your strengths. I will help you be the parent you WANT to be, not the parent you’re SUPPOSED to be.
