Therapist Overview
My ideal client is someone who is motivated to change themself … Most clients come to therapy blaming everyone else for their distress, which often is real and which has to be recognized. But the ideal client will work to define and implement appropriate boundaries between themselves the these stressors, and will also work on changing their own beliefs about themselves and will work to finds ways to empower themselves to be agents of change in their daily lives. The ideal client also understands that these issues typically didn’t arrive overnight and they won’t go away overnight; change is hard, and possible. My fundamental orientation to psychotherapy/counseling is psychodynamic. It is positive and rooted in a deep faith in the fundamental goodness of all people and the certainty that everyone has the power within themselves to change and be more hopeful, optimistic, and goal-oriented/directed. This embracing of one’s of sense of personal agency brings hope. I believe deeply in the goodness of all people, no matter what they’ve done in the past, and the confidence that all of us can self-examine, reflect, and find new ways to relate to one’s own inner Self and to those around you. Your change is a gift to your Self, your friends, your family and your children. I always feel privileged to be of help.
