Suzanne Pineles

I am a clinical psychologist who works to help clients cope with emotional difficulties and achieve valued life goals. My theoretical orientation is cognitive-behavioral and my practice is guided by research. As a complement to traditional cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), I often integrate mindfulness and acceptance-based techniques into my work. Therapy is a collaborative process and I work closely with my clients to continuously hone a plan to best suit their needs. I enjoy working with a variety of people, ranging from those who desire support in managing complex lives to those who have endured significant trauma. I provide individual psychotherapy for adults to address a range of issues including PTSD and other trauma- and stress-related difficulties, anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. I also specialize in helping people through periods of transition in their personal lives and careers. I am an Assistant Professor at Boston University School of Medicine and a Clinical Psychologist at the National Center for PTSD, within the VA Boston Healthcare System. I earned my Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Northwestern University. I see clients on Thursday evenings in my Downtown Crossing office.
