Hello, my name is Myshel Olivier and I am an Associate Therapist at Center for Compassion. Grief hurts—sometimes for a long time. We know when we feel, we heal. This is true for grieving, too. Grief is not something that can be ‘fixed’ or we need to ‘get over’ or ‘move on’ from. It is necessary, often excruciating, and sacred work as we learn to feel, honor, and carry it. Yet many times our environment—culturally, socially, economically, etc.—is not able, sometimes not even willing, to support grievers in healing. This lack of support takes a toll on the body, mind, and soul. My passion is being present with the hurting and creating a safe and compassionate place where a path to healing is welcome to unfold and where the unsayable may be said; the unfeelable may be felt; the unendurable may be supported and endured.
