Therapist Overview
Clients struggling through a transition in their life(job change/status, relationship change; moving to another location; educational decisions; family conflict; lack of motivation to move forward; adolescent challenges) and needing an objective perspective and goal setting to assist them in moving through the transition in an effort to continue to the next stage in their personal development. Identifying goals and assisting clients develop a strategy to work towards those goals and periodically re-evaluating in an effort to evaluate what has been accomplished and what needs to be altered. My background is in social work and psychotherapy. I worked for 30+ years in the HIV/AIDS field overseeing several diverse projects involving prisoners(5yrs), supervision case managers(5yrs), managing a drop-in center for clients living with the virus(6yrs); private practice(14yrs). My approach to therapy is supportive reflective listening and offering an analytical perspective to the client’s situation in a non-judgmental, empathic way. Most clients really want to be understood and validated for the struggles they are experiencing. I offer empathy but also goal setting and re-evaluation.
