Therapist Overview
I love to work with perfectionists, those who suffer from “imposter syndrome.” My patients live with a sense of not being or doing enough. They are spouses, parents and adolescents with histories of trauma and abandonment. They are tired of trying to please others, without a sense of how to soothe themselves. Many have developed addictions, chemical or “process” ones, in search of an inner solace that eludes them. Others simply live with a sense of feeling separate and alone, alienated from their work, family or community. They are coming to therapy, because some part of themselves hopes that it can be otherwise. Therapy is too often seen as a grim duty, as something we must do in order to “fix” ourselves. I help patients see the joy they have within themselves, by making therapy a vibrant, dynamic experience. In treatment, we will learn to see things honestly and clearly, while disengaging from our own negative self-talk We will laugh, a lot. There may be tears, but we will work through pain, discomfort, annoyance, rage and grief in a compassionate and invigorating way. You are more than your story, your problems or what others need from you.
