Therapist Overview
*I am accepting clients on a waitlist for late Jan. 2021* Post-traumatic growth, a term meaning that, not only was a person resilient in their ability to heal from an adversity, but that they were actually able to benefit from an adverse event by growing their psychological capacity to empathize, reframe and thrive after trauma. As a trauma specialist, I aim to focus on the beauty that can come after ugly things happen. It is my hope in the therapy room to encourage healing through curiosity about the self, expressive approaches to therapy and being an empathetic listener. Whether working with children, adolescents or adults, I strive to know every client as a sum made up of larger than just their parts by having a compassionate understanding of how their system functions within the world around them. I carry a solution-focused mindset but know the importance of walking through the “stuff” to get to the other side. Awarded the Insoo Kim Berg Award for “Outstanding Contribution to Social Work Knowledge and Practice” by peers in 2018 and the “Community of Practice” Award by colleagues in 2019. I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy including skills in CBT, TF-CBT, Brainspotting, trauma-informed practice, play-therapy (for children), art & narrative-based skills.
