Therapist Overview
I work well with marginalized populations and those who find themselves on the edges of dominant culture for one reason or another. I like working with people who are interested in healing and who are open to challenging how they react and cope. Your issues may include complications or dissatisfaction with relationships, intimacy, and communication; with internal struggles regarding your sense of self and your relationship to the greater world, including issues of gender, race, immigrant status, discrimination, prejudice; or with existential dilemmas about life, death and the meaning of it all. While I provide therapy addressing diverse issues, I specialize in providing support around issues related to sex, sexuality, and gender. I integrate psychodynamic, mindfulness, somatic, and cognitive-behavioral approaches to therapy. I work from an intersectional feminist and social justice framework. I warmly welcome folks from different backgrounds and identities. I honor each individual–their stories and journey–with compassion and curiosity. I am particularly sensitive to individuals who may have previously had negative experiences in therapy due to feeling judged, pathologized or misunderstood.
