Therapist Overview
I enjoy working with adults who are dealing with the after-effects of chronic trauma throughout childhood. This can mean high levels of emotional reactivity, intrusive memories of difficult past events, and difficulties in obtaining and maintaining important interpersonal relationships. My ideal client is looking for ways to feel safe and secure in the world and to, as Dr. Marsha Linehan would say, “build a life worth living.” I also feel confident working with clients experiencing depression, anxiety and other interpersonal issues. I work with trauma clients using a dynamic three-phase model as described by Dr. Judith Herman. Namely, we work dynamically through helping to build safety and stability in the present, remember and mourn the past, and learn skills for building the life that the client wants into the future. I also use EMDR when appropriate and beneficial. Together we will create a plan to help you achieve the goals you are seeking. Just like in life, you won’t click with everyone. After meeting for the first time, if you feel a different therapist would work better for your needs, I will work with you to find one that will. Change is possible. Even for you. I would be honored to help in your journey.
