Therapist Overview
LGBQ+, Nonbinary & Trans affirming mental health care. Clients who work with me are interested in symptom relief (anxiety, dysphoria, grief, etc…), and also invested in the journey of self-discovery. Therapy is a means to explore new ways of thinking and to improve emotional connections to self and others. Life transitions, trauma, stress, and grief can take a toll on your wellbeing. Helping clients meet their goals is my #1 priority & incorporating your insights is key to meeting those goals. I focus my work on treating survivors of sexual trauma and working with LGBTQIA+ populations on their journeys of identity discovery. As an existential therapist, I offer a safe non-judgmental environment for exploration. I treat concerns that individuals face with evidence-based techniques (i.e. EMDR, CPT, CBT) in the context of finding meaning and purpose. I am Board Certified through ITCA as a Transgender Care Therapist and follow WPATH Standards of Care for trans and NB/GNC clients. Ultimately, I believe that while we cannot always control what happens to us, we absolutely get to assign meaning to those events as we see fit. My style is direct and empowerment-focused, but not abrasive. Shame is poison for the soul. I believe that finding your truth is fundamental to living a fulfilling life you actually want to show up for! – E.J.
