Therapist Overview
From prior experience as a school counselor, I worked with many children, as well as with their families and teachers. Sometimes someone is just having a hard day and needs a little encouragement, but there are many issues that children and adolescents are dealing with on a regular basisāthings like stress, anxiety, grief, loss, divorce, lack of beneficial communication skills, academic struggles, fitting in, relationships, and self-regulation (behavioral and emotional). Just because adults are grown-up doesnāt mean these issues all go away. Adults deal with many of these, too. It takes courage to really know ourselves. And, it takes faith and patience and determination to make changes in our lives when we have met with a setback or a difficult situation. Whether a setback or situation is short term or has been going on for a while doesnāt matter as much as just having a willingness to take on a journey of change. If, as a therapist, I can help someone on their journey by offering them hope, guidance and an unconditional acceptance, then I am doing what I am meant to do.
