Therapist Overview
The people I see tend to have one thing in common. Suffering. This suffering can present itself as depression, anxiety, mood swings, addiction and can negatively impact lives. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an emotion-focused treatment. It is our emotions that lead to problems in our thinking and behaviors. I help my clients learn to get control of their emotions(and mind) in order to reduce problematic behaviors and increase functional behaviors interpersonally, emotionally, cognitively and behaviorally. I have been trained in DBT and am a member of a DBT consultation team, which is a requirement in the treatment. I continue to further my training in DBT in order to provide my clients effective treatment. I have also been trained in Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD. My approach to therapy is one that is non-judgmental, compassionate and empathic. I also like to use humor. I offer a validating environment that allows for changes to take place with understanding.
