Therapist Overview
Working with kids age 11-17 is my favorite group of individuals because I can see the change and impact counseling has in their life, and it is a rough time in many young people’s life. I work with a wide variety of individuals on either side of this age range as well. As long as there is a motivation for change to happen in a person’s life, there is potential for change to occur through counseling. I focus on how our thoughts and beliefs about events in our lives impact our behaviors. I work with individuals to challenge their own irrational beliefs in order to have a better outcome of behaviors and emotions. For younger children, I incorporate play into the sessions in order for them to feel more comfortable sharing and expressing themselves. Coming into counseling (especially for the first time) can be an intimidating thought, but the benefits are well worth it. I try my best to create an inviting and comfortable setting to lessen these feelings.
