Therapist Overview
My ideal client wants “something extra” out of therapy. Not just a safe place where an experienced practitioner can carefully listen, support, and guide them toward change and feeling better. But also an extra gift. Learning that model of emotional growth used in their own therapy so as to share and teach it to others they care about. 3 decades of searching has led me to David Hawkin’s MD PhD model emotions due to it’s comprehensiveness, depth, and simplicity. Along with the tool of mindfulness, clients grow in understanding it’s power to release stubborn emotions, foster deep understandings, and dissolve resistance to change. I became immersed in mindfulness in the 80’s teaching Tai Chi and doing my dissertation on meditation. I learned how one’s moment to moment stream of thoughts, intentions, and emotions generates the “energy field” of our moods. My passion is sharing with clients the therapeutic power of inner awareness amidst a world of non-stop outer distractions. I specialize in explaining and using David Hawkin’s MD PhD comprehensive map of emotions and consciousness to get to the heart of a client’s most pressing difficulties. Mindfulness and the tools of discernment and letting go of unhelpful patterns are among the foundation skills I encourage in my groups and individual therapy.
