Therapist Overview
My work with clients is determined by problems brought to therapy, beginning where you find yourself – cognitively, emotionally, or spiritually. The outcome of therapy depends greatly on your willingness to actively participate in the therapeutic process. I draw heavily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a research-supported treatment focusing on patterns of thinking that might be amplifying one’s distress. Based on the idea that a person’s mood is directly related to their thought patterns, is intended to help clients to recognize negative or inaccurate thoughts and replace them with healthier, more productive ways of thinking. CBT allows for investigating the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I work to support individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, anger, ADHD, sensory processing, school based issues, high-risk behaviors, children of divorce and those who would like to benefit from learning how to better manage stressful situations in a healthier way. My work with children, adolescents, and parents offers a moment to slow down, spend time looking at the story from a different perspective and develop new skills which allows for a pause where choices become available. My approach focuses on improving relationships with one’s self and others, recent and past experiences, in a safe and encouraging space.
