Aftan Archer-Cox

My goal is to create a safe and comfortable space for you to explore the things that may be holding you back. I have worked extensively with a variety of severe mental illnesses, trauma, suicidality, personality disorders, depressive disorders, grief, and anxiety. I have worked with grieving children, the LGBTQ+ community, families of those facing legal issues, the incarcerated population, families of those facing mental illness, and adults facing times of grief. I practice from a strengths-based perspective and I am trained in Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I utilize a collaborative approach to treatment planning and therapy. As a lifetime student, I continue to study trauma and the effects on the body and therapies that help my clients. Those seeking therapy are brave and strong. I look forward to advocating and supporting my clients through their journey. I am compassionate about my work and my clients and find value in every person’s story. I believe in the decision to seek therapy and can ultimately make a difference not only for my clients but those around them as well.
