Therapist Overview
As someone who pursued athletics in my youth, I developed a passion early on to discover what made top athletes unique. I quickly concluded it was not just physical abilities, but that of mental strength. My undergraduate studies gave me an exposure to the mental health component of sports performance. It wasn’t until my graduate studies that I realized mental health was equally important for athletes as they exited their sport. My concern and passion is that too many athletes are not adequately ready for the life changes that will occur as the life they knew-is forever changed. I believe athletes have unique life transitions which can include injuries, crisis, and retirement. These life transitions can often cause confusion and feelings of helplessness/hopelessness because there is a lack of support. Many athletes feel alone and unable to find someone to talk to about their current life situation.
