When skiing, it is important to keep your weight forward; leaning in gives you control. The paradox is that very often our thoughts and emotions scream for us to do the opposite, to lean back, away from what brings us anxiety and fear. In life, like in skiing, leaning back is a natural instinct, but too often it serves only to diminish our control and take us in a direction opposite from the one we desire. To move forward, with intention and control, we must ‘lean in’. This can be scary, and sometimes, we need some help along the way. As a counselor, I view therapy as a partnership and use interactive and integrative methods with individuals and within relationships to address your concerns and foster emotional well-being. Together we identify solutions to address challenging and painful life circumstances.
