Therapist Overview
Children and their parents need advocates and allies who will come alongside the family and help to chart the course towards change and stability. Play therapy is a way of working with children by using their strengths and natural abilities in play to help them overcome obstacles and develop the confidence and strength to practice new skills. Using parents as partners in the treatment process, HopeWorks extends the therapeutic benefit of sessions beyond the office and into home and school. Play Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that is especially designed with the needs and strengths of children in mind. Childrenās language is play and they use toys like adults use words (Landreth, 2002). Through play children can express their fears, hopes, and problemsāand, can often learn new ways of dealing with issues that may be triggering problems. Helping families, children, and adolescents is my passion. The unique needs of each individual, child, or family starts with the assumption that safety, trust and relationship are the cornerstones to emotional health and happiness, for people of all ages. Hopeworks is about building safety, connection and change.
