Therapist Overview
Having a special interest in eating disorder treatment and related conditions my clients often have difficulty with issues of mood (especially anxiety and depression), lack of self-identity, fears of judgement and being alone, a craving for connection, a sense of not being understood, concerns about the future, and at times even self-hatred. The mental state of these types of conditions lead to an overwhelming, all-consuming thought process that is usually obsessional and demeaning. The goal of any patient is to learn how to rid fears, quiet intrusive thoughts and find a way to a more fulfilling life with some sense of inner peace. Having worked at ED-180 beginning in 2014, and more recently at Monte Nido Treatment Centers, I have had the opportunity to be educated by the best teachers I could have – the patients I have met. Not only have I gained insight into the unique thought processes of an ED, but I have built a solid team of professionals to work with as a part of treatment. Early on I learned how a conversation with someone with an ED sounds like it’s in English, but it reality, it is a secret language. What one says, and how it is heard and perceived are two different things. As a ED therapist, I have learned to distinguish the subtleties of the language that helps my patients feel heard and understood. A key factor with EDs.
