Some of the main challenges I assist clients in overcoming include: feelings of hopelessness, fears about the future, feelings of distraction from past traumas, anger or shame over behaviors or addictions, challenges of being “stuck” and difficulties managing overwhelming emotions. I have the most experience treating adults with addiction, depression, anxiety, suicidal thinking, domestic violence, trauma, shame, grief, to name a few. I also have experience meeting with couples with a focus on improving communication, working on boundary issues, and overcoming other differences and challenges. I believe the impact of biological, psychological, social, and spiritual areas interrelate and contribute to changes in mood, thought, and behavior. I use approaches from different theoretical frameworks with a focus on thought management, mindfulness/grounding (or “being still”), active processing, psycho-education, and emotion regulation skill building. There are times in our lives where the challenges we face can be overwhelming—we may feel despair or hopelessness, or may discover unmanageable behaviors or emotions. It is my goal to help individuals return from unmanageable to manageable, from despairing to hopeful, and from overwhelmed to peace-filled.
