Therapist Overview
People contact me for many reasons. Often, though not always, the impetus seems to fall into one of two categories. Either something has happened to a person that has significantly changed their world, or nothing has happened and they are feeling stuck. Either scenario can leave someone feeling lost, confused, disconnected, and alone. Frequently I’m contacted after the loss of a loved one, including loss from suicide, or when someone is experiencing difficulty with life transitions (e.g., adjustment to college, career, change in family or caretaking role, or retirement). Other times, it’s not that specific. It just helps to talk. I utilize multiple techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and motivational interviewing, coupled with old-fashioned talking. Sometimes we look back, and sometimes we focus on now, but the aim is to get you re-connected and moving forward toward your goals. I’ve been called “not shrinky,” and I think that fits. Conta
